Traveling to Ecuador

Hello everyone,

We are beyond excited that you’re making the journey to celebrate our wedding with us! Whether this is your first time traveling abroad or you’re a seasoned traveler, visiting a new country always comes with a few questions. In this post, we’ve put together some helpful information on traveling to Ecuador and getting around once you’re here.

Travel requirements

Valid passport with a minimum validity period of six (6) months. No visa needed.

Dear Indian friends, you do need a visa to enter Ecuador. Please check the information in this link for the application process:

Get to Ecuador

If you’re traveling from abroad, please book your flight to Guayaquil, Ecuador. The city is home to José Joaquín de Olmedo International Airport, which serves as the main gateway for international arrivals.

Get to the wedding venue

Our wedding will take place in Playas, Ecuador, approximately a 1-hour and 50-minute drive (104 km) from José Joaquín de Olmedo International Airport. One option is to rent a car and drive yourself to the venue—see the information below for car rental details.

We are also considering organizing a van with a driver, depending on the number of people interested. This would allow everyone to meet at a common time and travel together to the venue. If this option works better for you, please let us know!

Rental car

José Joaquín de Olmedo International Airport offers convenient car rental services, located on the ground floor near both domestic and international arrivals. In Ecuador, manual transmission cars are more common, with rental rates starting at around $20 per day. For automatic transmission vehicles, rates typically begin at $80 per day. Many rental agencies offer unlimited mileage; however, for those that do not, the standard mileage included is 62 miles (100 km) per day. Any additional distance is subject to a fee, which ranges from 30 to 50 cents per extra kilometer, depending on the length of the rental period.
